Doctrine of Positional Truth

Do you know your POSITION in Christ?

This doctrine could change your life, if you let it.

I first want to distinguish between Relationship and Fellowship; the first has to do with a permanent relation, the second has to do with intimacy in that relationship.

Once a son, always a son, biologically speaking.

But the son may not honor the father and therefore may not be blessed by his father, but he is still a son.

Even if a father renounces his son and kicks him out of the family; the son remains his son biologically.  The father can never change that.

A Relationship with God is established when someone becomes a believer (by faith alone in Christ.

A Fellowship with God is established when the believer (now a son) is obedient to the Father’s Words.

So this doctrine on Positional Truth is speaking of our Relationship with God, which was once and for all established at the moment of faith in Christ.  Heb 10-10-14

The Bible says throughout the New Testament that you have a certain position “in Christ” if you are a believer in TLJC.

Picture yourself seated in a king’s chair, extremely comfortable and relaxed, in a position of royalty and power, and at complete rest.

Imagine purple robes placed upon you as you rest on your throne; Christ’s throne.

Purple robes indicate royalty, as it did in the ancient world.

And the purple color for kings’ robes came from a certain worm.

This worm, when crushed, formed a purple dye that could be used to color fabric.

But they were very rare, so it was very expensive.  Only kings could afford this color.

In PSA 22:6, 1000 years before his birth, Jesus called himself a worm.

Ps 22:6

But I am a worm, and not a man,

A reproach of men, and despised by the people.

The Hebrew word ‘towla’ is used here for worm, and it spoke of the crimson-colored worm in the ancient world used to color clothing.

Jesus became a worm so that He could make us kings.

Jesus was crushed so that we could be promoted.

He who was rich (God in heaven) became poor (a man), so that we who are poor (man) could become rich (live in heaven).

He was crushed by His Father because He accepted the judgment for our sins, so by His stripes we are healed!

ISA 53:5

But He was pierced through for our transgressions,

He was crushed for our iniquities;

The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him,

And by His scourging we are healed.

Your position in Christ is one of royalty like no earthly royalty.

He is the King of kings and Lord of lords, and through faith we are in union with Him, we share in His Kingship and Lordship!

REV 19:11-16

And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. 12 His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. 13 He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. 15 From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. 16 And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, " KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."

Your position is like a rank you have received, not because of anything you’ve done, but because of what God has done for you.

You have been adopted as a mature son, Roman style!

Romans chapter 8.

Your position in Christ has nothing to do with your spiritual condition.

In God’s eyes, You are clothed in fine linens that are “white and clean”.

Your position has already been decided and it has already been given to you, and it will last forever.

Your “condition” refers to how you are living the spiritual life, including good days and bad days, successes and failures. (Rewards may be released upon spiritual growth and faithfulness.)

Your “position” refers to your rank or status as a believer, a position that you now have and will keep for all of eternity.  (Gift of Eternal Life at Salvation.)

Why?  Because the Bible says that once you’ve believed in TLJC as Lord and Savior, you’ve been given a special rank. (as in the military)

You are in UNION with Christ, and have ALREADY been seated with Christ in the heavenly places, on the throne of God!

EPH 2:4-6

But God (note : God did all this for us), being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,

5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

So as believers, we must understand the Position we have in Jesus Christ!

It is only then that we can have the freedom to live the spiritual life, even though we will make mistakes along the way.

Understanding your freedom = power in the spiritual life.

We must realize that we already have the victory; and now that we are already on the winning side through faith in Christ, we now have the chance to bring God glory, and receive rewards from the Lord Jesus Christ.

We are living the spiritual life from a position of victory!

The Lord Jesus Christ already won the war and defeated Satan when He finished the work of salvation on the Cross.

Believers now have the opportunity to win a battle for Him, but the war has already been won by our Lord!

The Bible says many things about us as believers, things that we did not do or gain ourselves.

It says we have eternal life in 1JO 5:11-12.

It says we have perfect righteousness in 2CO 5:21.

It says we have been elected by God to His highest and best in EPH 1:4!

It says we have a destiny because we are in Christ in EPH 1:5.

It says we share in a Sonship in 2TI 2:1.

It says we are heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ in ROM 8:16-17.

It says we are sanctified, or set apart for God.

This is what we call Positional Sanctification, the same as Positional Truth, in 1CO 1:2.

The Bible says we have our own Priesthood in HEB 10:10-14.

It says we are Royalty and have a kingship in 2PE 1:11.

*Satan knows that if the believer does not understand his Position in Christ, he will struggle in his condition.

This believer will fall away from God’s plan due to guilt and self-condemnation.

Again your ‘condition’ means your day-to-day relationship with God.

Good day, bad day.  Your condition changes with your decisions each day.

But if you understand that you have an UNCHANGEABLE POSITION in Christ, you won’t condemn yourself when you have a bad day in your condition!

Because you realize that when you sin, it is not you, it is the sin nature inside of you!  ROM 7:17-20

The apostle Paul struggled with his old sin nature, and this book of Romans was written by him 28 years after his salvation!

There will always be a battle between the Spirit and the flesh for control of your soul.

Gal 5.  This will go on until the day our body is redeemed in the heavens.

ROM 7:17-8:1

17 So now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin which indwells me. 18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the wishing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. 19 For the good that I wish, I do not do; but I practice the very evil that I do not wish. 20 But if I am doing the very thing I do not wish, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me. 21 I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wishes to do good. 22 For I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man, 23 but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind, and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members. 24 Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? 25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.

Romans 8

8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

NONE!  Absolutely no condemnation.

Why?  Christ chose to be condemned for us.  He was judged for all our sins so we would not have to be judged!

You can live in liberty and freedom, and realize that God doesn’t love you less when you sin and fail. GAL 5:1

GAL 5:1

It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.

Do not fall under the bondage of the Law.  Christ has fulfilled the Law for us, so now we are under grace.

We have a new law; the law of liberty!!

James 1:25

25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty (not the OT Law), and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man shall be blessed in what he does.

ROM 8:1-2

8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.

Positional Truth

We will focus on the main reason why the kingdom of darkness wants to blind our minds from the truth behind our position “in Christ”.

I love how the Holy Spirit inspired the apostle John to put it in

1JO 4:15  Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.

1JO 4:16  And we have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

1JO 4:17  By this, love is perfected (matured) with us, that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world.

Now, how do we actually apply positional truth to our lives?

Well, first of all, we have to go back to the original liar and deceiver, Satan.

Satan knows that if a believer does not know of his position in Christ he will struggle in his condition.

In most cases, believers are more aware of their condition than their position.

And this is one of the main reasons for so much failure and stagnation in the Christian life.

If we are to become spiritually mature, we must understand positional truth and the finished work of TLJC on the Cross.

Remember, Christ finished the work for you!

John 19:30

30 When Jesus therefore had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And He bowed His head, and gave up His spirit.

The Greek verb “tetelestai” is in the perfect tense.  It means it has been finished in the past, with results that go on forever!

It is BELIEVING the doctrines about our Position that gives us the momentum and the divine energy to grow in our Condition!

Therefore, if the believer is not clearly aware of the specific doctrines concerning his position, then he cannot exercise the necessary "faith" for growth and service.

What is it that pleases God?

HEB 11:6  And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

ROM 10:17  So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

COL 2:6  As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,

Faith toward our Position will bring growth in our Condition!

For example, our justification must be according to positional truth.

And this is because our justification is based upon the fact that we are "in" Christ.

ROM 8:29  For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first‑born among many brethren;

ROM 8:30  and whom He predestined, these He also called; and whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

We receive justification "in Christ" by faith in His word, which means that it is a "fact" which we must believe.

Our justification has nothing to do with our Condition, but everything to do with our Position.

If we are at peace because of our justified position, our spiritual condition will be affected.

Positional truth therefore is related to our acceptance with God.

Very few believers are enjoying the daily benefits of acceptance with God.

The believer who is not aware of his position of acceptance "in Christ" is caught up in the struggle to improve his condition in order to feel accepted by God.

And this is an area in which we can never be accepted by God.

It is only natural for us to feel that our spiritual walk and spiritual service makes us acceptable to God.

But that is the problem.  It’s natural.  It is human viewpoint thinking.

These believers try to improve the old nature, and that’s where “human good” and “dead works” come from.

As new creatures in Christ, we must learn to live in the power of the new nature, by His Word and His Spirit!

2 Cor 5:17

Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

Not “old things have been improved”, but “old things have passed away”, or lost their power.

Brand new things have come!  You have a brand new nature, the nature of Christ Himself, in you!

We think we need to struggle and strive to live good lives for the purpose of acceptance from God.

However, that is when we are making the natural mistake of depending upon our condition, instead of depending upon our position in Christ for our acceptance.

And this often hinders the life of the believer who is "sincere and zealous", but ignorant of the Word of God!

This is one of the reasons Paul wrote in GAL 2:16  nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we may be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law shall no flesh be justified.

Are you flesh?  YES.  Am I flesh? YES.  So NONE of us can be justified by the works of the Law.

GAL 2:20  "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me.

GAL 2:21  "I do not nullify the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly."

If we could be justified by obeying the Law, then why did Christ have to die?

He came to save us because it was absolutely necessary, the only way to be saved, since we cannot justify ourselves by the Law.

Many believers seek satisfaction and a sense of acceptance through production (good works)  and that is legalism all the way..... instead of receiving the grace of God!

This is why EPH 1:6 tells us that we have been accepted in the beloved.

Now, here's where the problem comes in.

Instead of life bringing forth service, service becomes the life.

Therefore, as long as the believer serves and hustles around for God, he's happy and he feels accepted....

But once the service fails, the joy and the peace are taken away.

Is that right?  Is that how it should be?

Always remember, we are called as sons, not servants!

GAL 4:7 says  Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.

The problem many have is that they are seeking to "do things" for God rather than discovering who they are "in Christ."

This results in frustration as they become increasingly aware of their hopeless and helpless condition with self.

What the subjective, condition-centered believer does not realize is JOH 3:30 "He must increase, but I must decrease."

And here is the interesting thing;

God is actually causing this shattering revelation of self.

He takes us into situations and relationships that finally cause us to face up to the fact that we are simply failures as Christians.

Look at how the brave apostle Peter denied the Lord three times!

God shows us that our human power cannot please him.  Good deeds done in the flesh are disgusting to God. ISA 64:6

Our nothingness, our total un-acceptability in ourselves, becomes magnified.

And, this is because it is not until the believer understands such passages as ROM 7:18, that the believer begins to find victory.

ROM 7:18  For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the wishing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not.

The question then is “can the believer rest in his position of complete acceptance in TLJC, or will he place himself upon a works program?”

To abide "in Christ" and to consent to be loved while unworthy is the believer's personal privilege, personal responsibility, and personal obligation.

JOH 15:1  "I [Jesus Christ] am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser."

JOH 15:2  "Every branch [believer] in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away [lifts up off the ground]; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it [suffering for blessing], that it may bear more fruit."

Fruit through the branch is a metaphor for the Church-age believer.

Because of positional sanctification plus the grace provision of the filling of the Spirit, it is possible for the believer to produce divine good. (the fruit of the Spirit, Gal 5)

We are the branches in union with the vine, Jesus Christ.

The branch in Christ that does not bear fruit refers to the believer who does not produce divine good.

JOH 15:3  "You are already clean [saved] because of the doctrine [the gospel] which I have spoken to you."

This is a reminder of our Position as believers “in Christ”.  You have accepted God’s salvation through faith.  You have accepted that Christ has removed your sins.

And nothing in your life before salvation should be a hindrance because you have been cleansed from your past.

The things you did before salvation have been wiped out completely;

JOH 15:4  "Abide in me [stay in fellowship], and I in you [mandate for cognition of Bible doctrine]. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

The fact that "abide" is a command (in the Greek language) means that it is an experience after salvation and not a reference to positional sanctification.

As believers we are commanded to go forward and live in His Word.

We are never commanded to be in union with Christ.  Why?

That automatically takes place at the moment of faith in Christ, at the moment of salvation and the gift of eternal life. ROM 6:23, EPH 2:8-9

In John 15, this is a command to remain in fellowship with God through obedience, so that divine good may be produced in our lives.

The believer who submits to the Word and the Spirit will bring glory to God in his life.  JOH 4:24, HEB 4:12,16, GAL 5:16.

GAL 5:16

But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.

The branch in Christ of JOH 15:3 is positional sanctification, but the branch commanded to abide in Christ is the believer mandated to experiential sanctification through the filling of the Holy Spirit.  EPH 5:18

We have been sanctified (set apart) to a certain position ‘in Christ’.  That took place once and for all at the moment of faith in Christ.

Now we have the opportunity to be sanctified in our experience (experiential sanctification), where we live in our position and we glorify God in our daily lives, abiding in the Vine.

And the phrase "I in you" is the mandate for the believer to learn and metabolize Bible doctrine.

Jesus Christ operates in you through learning His mind, the Word of God.  JOH 1:1,14, 1CO 2:16, HEB 4:12, 2Tim 3:16.

Our Lord demands that His thinking be in us.

JOH 15:5  "I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me [fellowship with God], and I in him [through residual Bible doctrine], he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing."

JOH 15:6  "If anyone does not abide in Me [believer out of fellowship], he is thrown away like a branch [judgment of the dead works of a believer], and dries up; and they [angels] gather them, and cast them [dead works]into the fire, and they are burned."'

The believer who does not abide in Christ is out of fellowship with God, and therefore cannot bring God glory.

In JOH 15:6, this is not a true analogy. It is a descriptive analogy.

Remember that all dead works are judged and burned immediately after the Rapture of the church1CO 3:11-15

But the believer Himself will still be saved. 1CO 3:15, 2Tim 2:13, ROM 8:38-39.

1 Cor 3:11-15

11 For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man builds upon the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it, because it is to be revealed with fire; and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work. 14 If any man's work which he has built upon it remains, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man's work is burned up, he shall suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved, yet so as through fire.

2 Tim 2:11-13

11 It is a trustworthy statement:

For if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him;

12 If we endure, we shall also reign with Him;

If we deny Him, He also will deny us;

13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful; for He cannot deny Himself.

ROM 8:38-39

38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Now back to John 15.

JOH 15:7  "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done for you.

JOH 15:8  "By this is My Father glorified, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My indoctrinated ones [students]."

What does it mean to abide "in Christ"?

Abide is the Greek verb meno which means;

a. To stay in a place that has been given to you.

b. To remain in a state or relationship freely given.

c. Not to depart, not to leave but to remain.

The believer who is not abiding "in Christ" by means of Bible doctrine will end up relying upon his personal condition for acceptance.

JOH 8:32 - only the Truth of the Word will set you free, and keep you free.

He will therefore become hopelessly handicapped in the matter of fellowship, growth, and service.

Once you are entangled in the self-effort of trying to improve your condition, it is inevitable that you will be defeated in the spiritual life.

And how can a defeated, depressed, self-centered Christian enjoy fellowship with God the Father?

He cannot!

Our reliance upon ourselves must change to reliance on Christ, as GAL 2:20 puts it,

"I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me;”

When a believer learns positional truth and takes his position in TLJC and abides in Him for acceptance, then the believer will expect less and less from self and more and more from TLJC.

PSA 62:5 becomes a reality, "My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him."

As we become more stabilized and secure in our position, we begin to enjoy freedom from the dominion of self.

Now, understanding positional truth still causes us to be aware of our condition.

We should be concerned about the sinfulness of self, however, we do not depend upon improving ourselves for acceptance.

We learn to rest in our position.

God is glorified when we REST. HEB 4:1

HEB 4:1

4:1 Therefore, let us fear lest, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you should seem to have come short of it.

Who gets the credit when we rest in our position?

We learn to rely on a Person who is fully and forever accepted by God, TLJC,

One "in Whom" there is no improvement necessary or possible.

Once you are established in this position, you become increasingly aware of your acceptance with God.

This is when we become "Christ-centered" instead of "self-centered."

So, one of the greatest blessings of resting in our position of acceptance is the assurance that God is "for us."

JER 29:11  'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans for prosperity and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.

Many of God's people do not believe this.

If they did, their life would center around God.

They wouldn't be struggling to fit God in their schedule.

They would be trying to fit their schedule into the plan of God.

Now, do you really believe that God is "for us"?

For example, ROM 5:8  But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died FOR US.

Notice that while we were His ENEMIES, He died for us.

In ROM 8:26, we have the Spirit's ministry of intercession which is given for us.

ROM 8:26  And in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes FOR US with groanings too deep for words;

ROM 8:27  and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes FOR THE SAINTS according to the will of God.

ROM 8:28  And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

ROM 8:29  For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first‑born among many brethren;

ROM 8:30  and whom He predestined, these He also called; and whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

Therefore, what conclusion are we forced to?

ROM 8:31   What then shall we say to these things? If God {is} FOR US, who {is} against us?

ROM 8:32  He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up FOR US ALL, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

ROM 8:33  Who will bring a charge against God's elect? God is the one who justifies;

ROM 8:34  who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes FOR US.

Then we have the account of the rebellious Exodus generation, and what does the Bible say?

1CO 10:6  Now these things happened as examples FOR US, that we should not crave evil as they also craved.

"For us" the Lord allowed the negative decisions of the Exodus generation to be recorded.

What about the problems we face in this life, how can someone who is ‘for us’ allow us to face these problems?

Well, 2CO 4:17 answers the question, For momentary, light affliction is producing FOR US an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison,

Think of what the Lord did "for us" concerning the Law and the commandments which we could never keep!

GAL 3:13  Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse FOR US‑‑ for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree."

In EPH 5:2, we are told that "Christ loved us and gave Himself up FOR US, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma."

In 1TH 5:10 "He died FOR US so that we may live together with Him."

TIT 2:14  He gave Himself FOR US, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.

In HEB 6:19-20 He has entered the holy of holies in heaven "for us"

HEB 6:19-20This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil, where Jesus has entered as a forerunner FOR US, having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

In HEB 9:24, our Lord appears in heaven for us....

HEB 9:24  For Christ did not enter a holy place made with hands, a {mere} copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God FOR US;

He set up a brand new priesthood for us according to

HEB 10:20  by a new and living way which He inaugurated FOR US through the veil, that is, His flesh,

Every believer is now their own priest before God, 1PE 2:5,9, because of what He has done FOR US.

HEB 11:32   And what more shall I say? For time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets,

HEB 11:33  who by faith conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions,

HEB 11:34 quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight.

HEB 11:35 Women received back their dead by resurrection; and others were tortured, not accepting their release, in order that they might obtain a better resurrection;

HEB 11:36 and others experienced mockings and scourgings, yes, also chains and imprisonment.

HEB 11:37 They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were tempted, they were put to death with the sword; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, ill‑treated

HEB 11:38 (men of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts and mountains and caves and holes in the ground.

HEB 11:39 And all these, having gained approval through their faith, did not receive what was promised,

HEB 11:40 because God had provided something better FOR US, so that apart from us they should not be made perfect.

We can understand the Love that He has for us because of such passages as

1JO 3:16 We know love by this, that He laid down His life FOR US;

1JO 4:16 And we have come to know and have believed the love which God has FOR US.

Now, this is very important because as the Holy Spirit reveals the finished work of the cross to us and we realize that our old sin nature is anti-God, this may lead us to think God is against us.

But it is just the opposite, everything He reveals to us and takes us through is for our own spiritual growth.

And when the "accuser of the brethren" points his maligning finger at the "self life" within, at our condition, seeking to get us to question our acceptance, we are able to rest in our position and point to TLJC who is "for us."

So, we need to be very much aware of our acceptance in the beloved.

Satan may be the counsel for the prosecution in the courtroom of heaven, but we have a great defense attorney in heaven at the right hand of God the Father.

1JO 2:1  My little children, I am writing these things to you that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate [defense attorney] with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;

What does our Advocate do?  He defends us even when we are guilty.

That’s a true Friend and Brother…

Prov 17:17

A friend loves at all times,

And a brother is born for adversity.

Prov 10:12

Hatred stirs up strife,

But love covers all transgressions.

1 Peter 4:7-8

Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.

And then we see our Advocate, the Lord Jesus Christ, defending a dirty high priest named Joshua, who represents all of us.  Zechariah 3:1

Zech 3:1-7

Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him. 2 The LORD said to Satan, " The LORD rebuke you, Satan! Indeed, the LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?" 3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments and standing before the angel. 4 He spoke and said to those who were standing before him, saying, " Remove the filthy garments from him." Again he said to him, "See, I have taken your iniquity away from you and will clothe you with festal robes." 5 Then I said, "Let them put a clean turban on his head." So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him with garments, while the angel of the LORD (Jesus Christ) was standing by.

And here is our possibility for rewards, beyond simple salvation and receiving the gift of eternal life…

6 And the angel of the LORD admonished Joshua, saying, 7 "Thus says the LORD of hosts, 'If you will walk in My ways and if you will perform My service, then you will also govern My house and also have charge of My courts, and I will grant you free access among these who are standing here.

The following is a commentary from PC Study Bible: “coincidentally” on the front page the day I was studying this doctrine and went to look up this verse!

In Joshua the high priest we see a picture of each and every child of God, who has been made near by the blood of Christ, and has been taught to minister in holy things, and enter into that which is within the veil. Jesus has made us priests and kings unto God, and even here upon earth we exercise the priesthood of consecrated living and hallowed service. But this high priest is said to be "standing before the angel of the Lord," that is, standing to minister. This should be the perpetual position of every true believer. Every place is now God's temple, and His people can as truly serve Him in their daily employments as in His house. They are to be always "ministering," offering the spiritual sacrifice of prayer and praise, and presenting themselves a "living sacrifice."

But notice where it is that Joshua stands to minister, it is before the angel of Jehovah. It is only through a mediator that we poor defiled ones can ever become priests unto God. I present what I have before the messenger, the angel of the covenant, the Lord Jesus; and through Him my prayers find acceptance wrapped up in His prayers; my praises become sweet as they are bound up with bundles of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia from Christ's own garden. If I can bring Him nothing but my tears, He will put them with His own tears in His own bottle for He once wept; if I can bring Him nothing but my groans and sighs, He will accept these as an acceptable sacrifice, for He once was broken in heart, and sighed heavily in spirit. I myself, standing in Him, am accepted in the Beloved; and all my polluted works, though in themselves only objects of divine abhorrence, are so received, that God smells a sweet savour. He is content and I am blessed. See, then, the position of the Christian--"a priest-- standing--before the angel of the Lord."

So, the responsibility that we have concerning positional truth is to believe it.

We are saved by faith, we are to live by faith, we are to walk by faith and we are to grow by faith.

Positional truth is the provision for our Christian life and service, whereas the cross is the only provision we have for the self-life.

Resting in our "eternal position" frees us from the endless and sinful self-effort of trying to make our condition the basis for our security.

1JO 3:1  See how great a love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

1JO 3:2  Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we shall be. We know that, when He appears, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him just as He is.

We certainly cannot see (in our condition) what we already are in our position, but we are not to rely upon appearances, nor be affected one way or another by our condition.

1JO 4:17 says "By this, love is perfected with us, that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; BECAUSE AS HE IS, SO ALSO ARE WE IN THIS WORLD".

Understanding such passages as this causes the believer to rest in the work which God has done and the words which the Lord has said!

ISA 32:17  And the work of righteousness will be peace, And the service of righteousness, quietness and confidence forever.

Notice that the work or fruit or production of true godly righteousness will be peace.

And righteousness will serve us with quietness and confidence forever.

ISA 32:18  Then [when they realize this righteousness is in them] My people will live in a peaceful habitation, And in secure dwellings and in undisturbed resting places;

Now, It is very important to distinguish between God's promises and His facts.

Promises are to be anticipated.

Facts are to be accepted.

In His time God fulfills His promises according to His will.

On the other hand, biblical facts are to be appropriated and enjoyed now.

"We are to accept facts with thanksgiving."

For example:

By faith we know that we are justified, ROM 5:1.

By faith we know that we are reconciled, COL 1:20-22.

By faith we know that we are accepted, EPH 1:5-7.

By faith we know that we are sanctified, Acts 26:18.

Without a clear understanding of positional truth there can be no valid "presentation" to God.

To dedicate, to separate, or to present ourselves unto God is simply a response of faith to the separation in which God has already placed us "in Christ."

It is an acknowledging of our position already "in Christ."

Presenting ourselves to God means....

     1) to dedicate oneself to God

     2) to devote oneself

     3) to set apart as holy.

It all begins with ROM 12:1  I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, {which is} your spiritual service of worship.

Then we enter into the principle of 2TI 2:15  Study to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth.

Now, we have to be careful here because many believers seek to dedicate to God that which He has totally and forever rejected.

They hope their "old self" will become spiritual and thus usable in God's service.

True acceptable presentation to God is expressed most clearly in Rom 6.

ROM 6:11  Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God “in Christ Jesus.”

ROM 6:12   Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body that you should obey its lusts,

ROM 6:13  and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

Here we have the determining factor in presenting ourselves to God found in the phrase, "as those alive from the dead."

We know that the old self did not rise from the dead!

The sinful adamic life was crucified on the cross, ROM 6:6.

ROM 6:6  knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, that our body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin;

ROM 6:7  for he who has died [with Christ] is freed from sin [the sin nature].

ROM 6:8  Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,

ROM 6:9  knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him.

ROM 6:10  For the death that He died, He died to sin, once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.

Now, the "new man" emerged from the death that He died and the resurrection which took place.

And it is this new man, this new life realized from "positional truth" that God wants you to present to Him.

It is this new life, our Christian life, the life that is hid with Christ in God, that we are told to present ourselves to God.

It is the only life He accepts.

We are to present to Him that which already belongs to Him.

ROM 6:13  and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin [the sin nature] as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

ROM 6:14  For the sin nature shall not be master over you, for you are not under law, but under grace.

ROM 6:15   What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be!

ROM 6:16 Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of the sin nature resulting in death, or of obedience to the new man resulting in righteousness?

ROM 6:17 But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of the sin nature, but you became obedient from the heart to that form of doctrine to which you were committed,

Please notice that you must be committed to the Word of God.

ROM 6:18 and having been freed from the sin nature, you became slaves of righteousness.

ROM 6:19 I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, resulting in further lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, resulting in (experiential) sanctification.

ROM 6:20 For when you were slaves of the sin nature, you were free in regard to righteousness.

ROM 6:21 Therefore what benefit were you then deriving from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is death.

ROM 6:22 But now having been freed from the sin nature and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life.

Another aspect of positional truth, which is very vital to understand, is our identification with TLJC.

In fact, identification is what the word ‘baptism’ means.

We need to realize our identification with His death, burial, and resurrection.

And, as in all realms of positional truth, identification is not experiential, but a matter of placing our faith in the facts of the Word.

God provides the facts before He calls for faith, ROM 10:17.

ROM 10:17  So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

It is not until the facts of our identification with Christ are "understood" that we are told to exercise faith.

In this way, there is no effort or struggle because "we know";  having the knowledge gives us the facts to believe.

Once we understand our identification with Christ in His death and resurrection then we are directed to "consider" as ROM 6:11 says.

ROM 6:11  Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

It would be ridiculous for God to suggest that we "consider ourselves" as having died unto sin and becoming alive unto Him in Christ if the information to do so was not provided and if it were not already true of us.

Neither could He ever call upon us to present ourselves to Him as alive from the dead in ROM 6:13, if He had not already made us new creatures in Christ.

However, true as our identification with TLJC is, "If we are not aware of the facts, we derive little benefit from them in our daily life."

And that is where we need them the most, in our daily life.

To ‘consider’ that something is true is to see it clearly.

To believe it.

To count on it.

To appropriate it.

Therefore, it is not until the believer is free from the power of the sin nature and its' lust toward immoral or moral degeneracy that he becomes a servant of righteousness.

ROM 6:17  But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of doctrine to which you were committed,

ROM 6:18  and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.

Our daily experience can be no more true than the doctrine we hold and by which we are held.

Therefore, there's absolutely no reason why you as a believer do not enjoy the equal privilege and equal opportunity that God has given you to be a winner.

You have been given some fantastic things.

You have been given "mystery doctrine” in the letters of the Church Age epistles.

And, in all of human history from Adam to TLJC, not once did God let anyone know "Church-age mystery doctrine."

Not once did they realize the fact that God would have a royal family.

Or the fact that every believer would be a priest.

Or the fact that the royal family would have all the privileges of royalty.

And, that they would be "special" and have the greatest opportunities in their relationship to God than anyone has ever had in history and ever will have.

So, when Moses started writing and eventually the other writers of the Old Testament, they prophesied a lot of things.

They prophesied about the rejection of the Jews.

They prophesied about the first advent.

They prophesied about the Tribulation.

They prophesied about the Millennium.

But, they always skipped over and they never knew anything about the Church-age.

And so, the Church-age was a mystery and positional truth is a part of that mystery.

What we have been noting was never known in Old Testament times.

The Old Testament has a great deal of benefit for us but it is not where we find our doctrine regarding "the Church-age."

Never one word, that some day there would be a royal family......

And, that every believer would be a priest...

And that every believer would be an ambassador...

And that every believer would have the greatest opportunities and privileges ever.

The lowest or the highest.

The dumbest or the smartest.

Everyone would have the same privileges.

Everyone would have the same opportunities.

Everyone would have something that had never been available before.

And that is a part of the mystery that in EPH 1:9 "God had made known unto us the mystery."

This why in ROM 16:25 the apostle Paul said "Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which has been kept secret for long ages past,

In 1CO 2:7, the apostle Paul said but we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, the hidden {wisdom,} which God predestined before the ages to our glory;

Or in EPH 3:9, and to bring to light what is the administration of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God, who created all things;

COL 1:24   Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I do my share on behalf of His body (which is the church) in filling up that which is lacking in Christ's afflictions.

COL 1:25  Of this church I was made a minister according to the stewardship from God bestowed on me for your benefit, that I might fully carry out the preaching of the word of God,

COL 1:26  {that is,} the mystery which has been hidden from the {past} ages and generations; but has now been manifested to His saints,

COL 1:27  to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Or COL 2:2 that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and {attaining} to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, {resulting} in a true knowledge of God's mystery, {that is,} Christ {Himself},

You are a part of this mystery.

You are the saints.

Never before has this information been revealed.

Moses was curious about it.

Isaiah was curious about it.

Abraham was curious about it.

People in the Old Testament wondered what that was that God always said, pass over it, you can not know anything about that.

They were curious, but they couldn't know.

And, it's amazing to me how little curiosity and interest there is among believers today about their own mystery doctrine.

Another vital point about positional truth is how it deals with the fact that understanding positional truth also is vital in overcoming sin.

The mature believer and the spiritually-minded believer is conscious of sin "in him"but He is fully assured that there is no sin "on him".

He understands that all of his sin has been laid upon TLJC.

And although his condition needs improvement, he lives in his position "in Christ."

His resources for his spiritual growth are received from above.

He enjoys his freedom to come boldly unto the throne of grace in order that he may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need!  HEB 4:12

If He does sin, his conscience and communion with the Father are disturbed, and it causes him turn back to God and follow His Spirit again.  Gal 5, Eph 5, Rom 6-8.

He knows 1JO 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;

The mature believer knows his Advocate.

Now, on the other hand the "condition-centered" Christian is just the opposite.

He has no other recourse but to "fight against the indwelling sin nature" and to seek to control self as best as He can.

And, added to this intolerable burden is the frustrating fact that God does not seem to help him in this endeavor.

One of the main reasons why so many believers are spiritually ill, as well as mentally and physically sick, is a guilty oppressed conscience.

They are occupied with and laboring under the burden of their unrighteous condition.

You are free, and you must remember that at all times. Christ has purchased your freedom once and for all.

There is liberty in our "righteous position", but burden in our unrighteous condition.

Sadly enough, there are many of God's people today who do not know anything at all about a "pure" and perfect conscience.

Many Christians are bound by a bad conscience.

They are honestly aware of their sinful condition, but only vaguely aware of their perfect position!

As 1CO 8:7 says "their conscience being weak is defiled".

TIT 1:15 To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.

You can be an ‘unbelieving’ believer. You are born again and saved by your initial faith in Christ, but you don’t live in the position you have in Christ.

You don’t believe in the promises of the Word of God. And your conscience is not clean because you don’t believe in the complete payment at the cross of Christ.  COL 2:14

HEB 9:14 says "how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?"

We often operate in human power, not spiritual power. Instead of trusting in the blood of Christ, we trust in our own goodness.

HEB 10:22 let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled {clean} from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

Faith is the only thing that pleases God. HEB 11:6.

That’s what God wants from us; to draw near to Him with a sincere heart, in full assurance of faith!
1PE 3:21 And corresponding to that, baptism [of the Spirit] now saves you-- not the removal of dirt from the flesh [water baptism], but an appeal to God for a good conscience-- through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

At the moment of salvation, when you first believed in Christ, you were baptized by the Spirit and placed in union with Christ.  1CO 12:13

And you have a good conscience because you have trusted in Christ, and in His resurrection! And you were filled with the Holy Spirit!

The basic reason for a guilty conscience is the indwelling "old sin nature".

Although redeemed by Christ from the penalty and bondage of sin, many believers are spiritually helpless and useless by an overwhelming burden of guilt.

And this is because they do not understand positional truth, or they do not apply what they have learned.

Guilt itself is a sin! So you then get involved in ‘chain sinning’! This is a trap from Satan and the kingdom of darkness, to make you forget the forgiveness you have “in Christ”.

ROM 14:23c -“whatever is not from faith is sin”.

This is why it is so important to keep on moving forward in the Plan of God. Phil 3:13-14.

When you sin as a believer, your good conscience will convict you, and you turn back to God and submit to Him.

That sin was paid for on the cross.  God wants you to follow Him and His Word!

And then you forget your sins and move on. In faith, you trust that God has forgiven you, and you are free to reach forward and live the spiritual life again.

And then you forget your sins and move on.  In faith, you trust that God has forgiven you, and you are free to reach forward and live the spiritual life.

Phil 3:13-14

13 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

This is why we are told in ISA 43:18 "Do not call to mind the former things, Or ponder things of the past".

Many believers are awakened to the evil of their "self life", not realizing that the Holy Spirit is trying to free them from their guilty condition.

Awareness of a need is the primary motivation for intelligent faith.

Many believers do not understand their own actions,

They are baffled, bewildered, and upset.

As the apostle Paul was in Romans chapter 7!

They do not accomplish what they wish to, both in the spiritual and natural realm.

It is only in positional truth that our conscience can be clear with regard to the fact that we still have the indwelling sin nature.

It is only by remembering our position in Christ that we can ‘forget what lies behind and reach forward to what lies ahead”, even when we fail God.

Our guilt cannot be relieved through removal of sin within, because the old sin nature is in our unredeemed body until we die.  GAL 5:16-17, ROM 7:15-8:1

The battle between the flesh and the Spirit will always go on in this life.

And there cannot be any hope of relief through improvement of self, since in the flesh there dwells "no good thing" to improve.

As new creations "in Christ", we have been redeemed from the penalty of indwelling sin.

And we have been separated from the domination of the sin nature.

We have sin in us, but not on us, always indwelling, but never imputed!

Sin in never credited against our account!

Why?  Because of our position in Christ!  Sin has already been dealt with once and for all at the Cross!

It is very important to know how definitely and thoroughly God dealt with the principle of sin.

Especially since its’ presence within us is so burdensome.

ROM 8:3  For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh,

The sin nature has not been forgiven, it has not been totally put to death!

Personal sins have been forgiven, not the sin nature.

Neither has it been improved, nor removed from your body, but it has been condemned.

Our Lord, in His flesh, condemned the sin nature and because sin has already been condemned "in Him," there can be no condemnation for us.

ROM 8:1  There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Does you Bible say “for those who not after the flesh, but after the Spirit”?

That is not in the original Greek text.

Condemnation and retaliation is what many people fear.

They think God is after them!

But Christ did not come to judge the world, but to save the world!  JOH 3:17; JOH 12:47.

And now that you are a believer, God is on your side.  He loves you so much, and even when you fail, He disciplines you as a loving Father, He doesn’t judge you as an angry God.

It is in understanding that there is “no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus”, that our conscience finds peace and is purged from the guilt caused by the indwelling sin nature.

So, it should not be difficult for us to make the correct choice between the consciousness of our condition and the revelation of our position.

Every day you need to choose: will I focus on my fallen condition or on my secured position?

Will I focus on myself and my failures?  Or will I focus on Christ and His accomplishments that have set me free?

It is because of feelings and emotions, and lack of scriptural knowledge, that we put more credit in our condition than our position.

This is why many ‘work for God’ under the heavy burden of a defiled conscience.

But we can’t live life by how we feel!  We must live life by our thoughts that come from the Word of God!

Don’t live by your feelings.  Live by what the Word of God says is true.

Satan will try to use your feelings and emotions against you.  You must stand firm in the Word of God, even when you don’t ‘feel good’.

If we agree with God concerning his condemnation of the old man, there is a peaceful conscience within.

We either confess what we are in our condition, or we confess what we are in our position.

One confession means guilt and enslavement, the other means freedom and growth!

Our new position "in Christ" is the result of being raised with Him!

Being raised "with Him", we were "cut off" and separated from the "old self" who was buried with Him in death.

EPH 2:6  He raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly {places}, in Christ Jesus,

COL 2:12  having been buried with Him in baptism [of the Spirit], in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.

COL 3:1  If then you have been raised up with Christ (and you have says the Greek),keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

Now, the question is, Will you believe all that is yours "in Christ"?

We have liberty in Christ, GAL 2:4

We have blessings in Christ, EPH 1:3

We have been chosen in Christ, EPH 1:4

We have acceptance in Christ, EPH 1:6

We have redemption in Christ,-EPH 1:7.

We have boldness in Christ, EPH 3:12

We have election in Christ, ROM 8:33

We are predestined in Christ, ROM 8:29

We are called in Christ, 1TH 5:24

We have condemnation removed, ROM 8:1.

We are crucified with Him, ROM 6:6

We are dead with Him, Rom  6:8

We are buried with Him, ROM 6:4

We are raised with Him, ROM 6:4

We are free from the Law, ROM 7:4.

We have been adopted in Him, ROM 8:15

We have been justified with Him, ROM 3:24

We have been forgiven in Him, EPH 4:32

We have His righteousness in Him,  2CO 5:21.

And notice these scriptures are all found in the letters to the Church!  Where the ‘mystery doctrine’ for the Church Age is contained.  Look at all WE have be GIVEN!!!

Because of being “in Christ” we are:

Objects of God’s love, EPH 2:4

Objects of God's grace, EPH 2:8-9

Objects of God's power, PHI 2:13

Objects of God's faithfulness, PHI 1:6

Objects of God's peace, JOH 14:27

Objects of God's intercession, ROM 8:34.

Phil 1:6

6 For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

Phil 2:12-13

12 So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

We share in His priesthood, HEB 10:10-14

His kingdom, 2PE 1:11

His heirship, ROM 8:16-17.

When the believer allows the enemy to choke him through self-accusation and guilt, the realization of his righteousness in Christ is hidden. 2CO 5:21

There is one thing that we have to be more aware of than immorality, and that is acting like a Pharisee.  (who did the Lord get angry with?  The prostitutes or the Pharisees?)

The goal of Satan is to draw the believer back onto the ground of condemnation.

Zech 3:1

Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him.

But the Lord defended the failed priest Joshua and said he was already “plucked from the fire”!

And this was Old Testament!

Only New Testament believers are said to have a position “in Christ”!

After we are saved and have a permanent position “in Christ”, it is then that we have the chance to glorify God and receive rewards, on earth and in heaven.

This concept of being saved by faith alone in Christ alone, and then after salvation having the chance to also rule with Christ in the eternal state is seen in 1CO 3:11-15 and 2Tim 2:3-5,11-13 in the New Testament.

And those who are not firm and established on the "no condemnation" ground of ROM 8:1 make very little progress.

They only go so far and quit.  Because they will get discouraged.  They can’t maintain God’s standards on their own.

Their fruit falls before it ripens.

The destroying power of the enemy is rendered null and void when the believer rests in the Truth; such as in ROM 8:2 "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.”

Now, although the Holy Spirit is a Convictor and convicts us of sin, He never points downward.

While Satan's accusations result in self-consciousness, the Holy Spirit's conviction leads to Christ-consciousness.

The Holy Spirit convicts the heart and the conscience concerning sins, to lead the believer to turn back to God in humility.

He then points upward to the remedy for sins: the cross and our position "in Christ."

However, the enemy deceives the falling believer to self-effort by holding the impossible standard of perfection over the imperfect believer's head.

The Pharisee does this to others.  The Pharisees in the Church are motivated by the condemnation of the Kingdom of darkness.

And we still do have Pharisees in the church today. Be on guard for their condemnation.

Satan agitates continually for immediate and complete rectification of the falling condition.

Then comes the "works program".....

The "make it up to God” routine.....

This is where believers enter into self-denial, fasting, or even punishing oneself physically; all to try to make it up to God for their guiltiness and failure.

This is not the plan of God!  It is by Christ’s stripes that we are healed!

Isa 53.

On the other hand, the Holy Spirit is patient and allows time for development, graciously reminding us of the finished work of positional truth, etc…

The Holy Spirit gently leads the faltering believer from self-centeredness and darkness to Christ-centeredness and light.

To bring this about the Spirit of truth presents spiritual truth!

Now, when a believer is awakened and walking in the light, if he is not resting in his position, then he'll become frustrated with his condition.

Jesus said “My yoke is easy and My burden is light”.

The Lord’s objective for us is to REST! (not physical rest, but rest in our soul and spirit)

David said God has even forgiven the guilt of our sin!!  Selah! (rest on that!)

Ps 32:5

“I acknowledged my sin to You,

And my iniquity I did not hide;

I said, " I will confess my transgressions to the LORD";

And You forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah.”

What did David do?  He relied on God to cleanse him… he didn’t try to cleanse himself.

However, it is the history of Satan to always overstep himself.

When it appears that He has won He keeps on pushing to his own defeat.

The believer has failed.

The accusations have been made.

The feeling of wretchedness and hopelessness as a result of the believer's failure is the Holy Spirit's preparation to lead him to see and abide in the light of positional truth.

The believer realizes he cannot bring God glory on his own.

JOH 15:5 - apart from ABIDING in Christ, you can do nothing!

The believer can become so discouraged, that it is either "believe or perish."

The believer is reminded of ISA 44:22.

ISA 44:22  "I have wiped out your transgressions like a thick cloud, And your sins like a heavy mist. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you."

But self-centered believer is oppressed and hindered by the darkness of his sinful condition.

He may be honest and sincere, but he is too focused on himself.

We call this arrogant pre-occupation with self.

However, in the midst of this frustrated time, the Holy Spirit presents the facts of positional truth!

This is overwhelming to the believer who has been humbled, or rejected by the believer who lives in arrogant self-righteousness. (the modern-day Pharisee)

To the believer who has been humbled, "and you shall know the truth and the truth shall SET YOU FREE." JOH 8:32

Not only is He free from the penalty of sin but also from its power to bring forth more sins.

The believer is living like a slave, until, in spite of his sins, He rests in the truth concerning those sins.

What is the specific truth concerning our sins?

HEB 8:12  For I will be merciful to their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.

HEB 10:17 And their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.

MIC 7:18-19 who is a God like thee, who pardons iniquity and passes over the rebellious act of the remnant of His possession?  Yes you will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

PSA 65:3b As far our transgressions You do forgive them.

PSA 85:2 You did forgive the iniquity of Your people; you did cover ALL their sin.

PSA 103:10 He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

PSA 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.

ISA 38:17c For You have cast all their sins behind their back.

ISA 43:25 "I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake [because of my honor and integrity].  Furthermore, I will not remember your sin."

JER 31:34c For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.

COL 2:13 .....He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us ALL our transgressions,

Think of it, the Lord has not covered some of your sin, but ALL of your sin!

In Ezek 16:63 the Lord said to people who were involved with the grossest sins you could imagine "I will forgive you for ALL that you have done."

In ROM 4:7-8, Paul even quoted David in Psa 32 when he said Blessed are those whose lawless deeds have been forgiven and whose sins have been covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will not take into account.

In ROM 11:27 He will take away our sins...

Have you become so familiar with these verses and this principle of doctrine that it no longer has an effect on your life?

1JO 2:12 says that Your sins are forgiven for His name’s sake.

Now that is the truth concerning our sins.

In our condition we are totally unacceptable for the Father's presence and fellowship, but Position is what counts with God.

That’s the whole reason He sent His Son, to give us a position we don’t deserve, by His magnificent grace!  EPH 2:8-9

One part of mystery doctrine in the Church Age deals with the new creature or the new spiritual species.

We begin with the fact that all human beings are descended from Adam through Noah's three sons:  Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

For example, Shem is the father of the Akkadians, Chaldeans, Arabs, Lydians, Syrians, etc.

Ham was the father of the Phoenicians, Hittites, Amorites, Chinese, Japanese, Egyptians, Canaanites, Lybians, Ethiopians, Samarians, Watusi, Masi, Somali, Nandi, etc.

Japheth is the father of the Medes, Persians, Macedonians, Greeks, Romans, etc.

Most of us are combinations of these groups and today there is no such thing as purity of race.

All have been intermingled, and the color of skin is no issue in anything in life.... it has nothing to do with anything.

Now, in the history of the human race only two new species have been added.

a.  Israel was added as the new racial species.

The Jew is racially different from all the descendants of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

b. The second species which was added is the Church or the ‘new spiritual species’.

Israel came from the procreation of Abraham and Sarah.

The Church came from the continuation of ‘the great power demonstration of the hypostatic union’ into the Church-age.  (When God became a man in the person of Jesus Christ)

God did an experiment.  He permanently entered into union with human flesh.  He became a man!

He has continued His experiment with us!!  God now lives inside of us as believers!  This never occurred for the Old Testament saints!

This extension demanded a ‘new spiritual species’, so that man could use divine power, which God made available for the first time when TLJC was raised from the dead.

How do we know this?  Let’s look at Eph 1.

And this is the corrected translation from the original Greek language….

EPH 1:19‑20  "And what is the surpassing greatness of His power to us who have believed for the delegation of His superior power, which [power] He made operational by means of Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in heavenly places."

The surpassing greatness of his power is the Christian way of life.

So, the new spiritual species or the new creature originates from regeneration and the mechanics of the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Therefore, the new spiritual species of the Royal family of God comes forth through the baptism of the Spirit at the point of salvation.

EPH 4:24  and put on the new self, which in {the likeness of} God HAS BEEN CREATED in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

Notice there is a new creation!  We have the very nature of Christ in us!  We are a new spiritual species!

The election of the Church, or “the Royal Family of God”, is strictly spiritual and invisible, a part of every Church-age believer's invisible assets.

It removes environment, genetic, and volitional handicaps, so that the election of the Church is strictly spiritual.

It doesn’t matter where you have been born, the color of your skin, the environment you live in, your financial status, or your physical handicaps!

We are all equal in Christ Jesus; so spiritually you and I have the same opportunity to use divine power, and to grow in God’s Plan to Spiritual Maturity!!

There is no more male or female, Jew or Greek, slave or free: we are all one in Christ Jesus, and therefore we all have an equal opportunity to become Winner Believers.

GAL 3:26-29

26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.

Do you understand that?!  That is great news!  God does not play favorites.  And whatever handicaps we have in the flesh do not harm our opportunity to grow in the Spirit.

Now, each new species was created by God for a definite historical impact.

Israel was created for a visible historical impact in the Old Testament (age of Israel) and in the Millennium through their client nation function.

The Church was created for an invisible historical impact during the times of the Gentiles.

It is also interesting to note that each new species, racial Jew and spiritual Church, originates from a category of biblical death.

Israel originated from Abraham's sexual death, ROM 4:17‑21; HEB 11:11‑12.

The church originates from the baptism of the Holy Spirit, Who placed us in union with the substitutionary spiritual death of Christ on the cross.

Each new species was also formed from a significant event in history.

The new racial species is related to the circumcision of Abraham at age 99.

The new spiritual species is created through the baptism of the Holy Spirit at salvation, which began on the day of Pentecost.

To continue the divine power of Jesus Christ into the Church-age demanded the creation of a new spiritual species for the utilization of divine power.

This is why you and I have the most fantastic opportunity for historical impact.

Now, the new spiritual species in history demands new distinctions in biblical systematic theology.

As a result of the new racial species of Israel, Bible doctrine distinguishes between Jew and Gentile, from Abraham to Christ.

But, as a result of the new spiritual species of the church or body of Christ, distinction between Jew and Gentile is removed during the Church-age, EPH 2:11‑22.

EPH 2:11  Therefore remember, that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called "Uncircumcision" by the so-called "Circumcision" [the Jew] which is performed in the flesh by human hands----

EPH 2:12  Remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world

EPH 2:13   But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ

EPH 2:14   For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one, and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall.

EPH 2:15   By abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, that in Himself He might make the two into ‘one new man’, thus establishing peace

The one new man is the new spiritual species formed at salvation by the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

In the Old Testament, the Jew as a new racial species was always distinguished from the Gentile.

But the Jew has absolutely no special blessings in the Church-age, unless he becomes a member of the body of Christ, and then his blessings are no better than any other Church-age believer!

The new spiritual species of the Church-age formed by the baptism of the Holy Spirit erases all racial distinctions between Jew and Gentile, plus all other racial distinctions in the Royal family of God.

We are simply all ONE in Christ Jesus.

In fact, with the coming of the Church-age and the baptism of the Spirit, the following distinctions are removed:

Racial, cultural, social, and sexual,

GAL 3:26‑28; EPH 2:11‑12; 1CO 12:13ff.

GAL 3:28  There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all EQUAL in Christ Jesus.

In the Church-age, there is no racial distinction at anytime for any reason for any believer; distinctions are gone forever.

You are to regard yourself as a human being, but not as a member of any race.

Only dumb, stupid, ignorant, arrogant people have prejudice.

You are not to think of yourself as belonging to any race, but to a new spiritual species, “in Christ”!

There is your Position!

All Church-age believers have equal privileges and equal opportunities under the invisible assets of election and predestination.

The application of this doctrine of equal Position is having tolerance for all believers, especially for baby believers and adolescents.

Tolerance (patience and acceptance towards others) is important because it gives all believers the necessary privacy to grow in God’s grace.

So, the new spiritual species or the new creature is classified as “body of Christ”, “Royal family of God”, and “Church”.

This means that the new spiritual species is unique and exclusive to the Church-age only!

You and I have an opportunity that if different from every other time in human history!

This new spiritual species gives us our “position” in Christ; “positional truth”.

And this new spiritual species, or the new creature, provides equal privilege and equal opportunity for all believers to execute God's will, plan, and purpose for the Church-age.

The reason for the new spiritual species is the continuation of the great power demonstration of the hypostatic union into the Church-age

This extension demands that all the power first given to Jesus Christ in hypostatic union now be available to every believer (although it is not used by many believers).

Not the power of healing or miracles; but the power to live the spiritual life.  Living in the love of Christ, forgiveness, peace, mercy, grace, compassion, and to have a personal relationship with God the Father!

So, you now stand on the threshold of history with the opportunity to have an impact, which can change history and the course of your nation and of world history.

Or you can sink back into the swamp of preoccupation with self,

or your erroneous standards and priorities,

or your mixed‑up, confused, and hopeless attitude.

You can either continue to hope to get rich,

Or continue to lust for power and attention from others,

or, if you're single, you can continue to imagine what it would be like to be married,

and if married, wonder what it would be like to be single, :)

Or you can forget all of that nonsense, all those details of life, and take advantage of the opportunity God has given you to have a life of fantastic purpose and meaning!

You have a choice!!  2Tim 2:3-5  Glorify God in your body!

You have divine power available to you!  Now the question is, will you learn how to use it?  And will you apply it to your life?

2 Tim 2:3-5

3 Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier. 5 And also if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not win the prize unless he competes according to the rules.

And whether you maximize your fantastic opportunity or not, depends upon your perception, metabolization, and application of Bible doctrine, and your resultant spiritual growth.

It depends on your intimacy with God, which comes from His Word.

In 1CO 3:5, the Lord gives opportunity to each one.

GAL 5:13   For you were called to freedom, brethren; only {do} not {turn} your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

COL 4:5......Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity.

Think of it, we have the same assets and divine power available to us as Jesus Christ, yet we are imperfect.

This is why we had to be created a new spiritual species at salvation, apart from which we could not use divine power.

This unprecedented grace provision of divine power to every believer demands a new spiritual species for the utilization of that power.

And this power could never have been used by the Old Testament saints, not being a new spiritual species.

How do we use this divine power, taking advantage of our Position in Christ??

We submit to His Word and His Spirit.  Humility and obedience is the key to living the spiritual life.

Now how do we attain these powers?

They are available to us through positive volition (free will).

Each and every one of us has the free will every day to submit to His Spirit and His Word.

The Filling of the Holy Spirit requires your free will to decide to follow the Spirit and not the flesh.

It is then that we “put on the new man”.

And, Application of Bible doctrine also comes from positive volition.  We must choose with our free will to trust God and apply His Word to our lives.

Of course, this first requires humility in submitting to learning the Word of God.

The Word of God must be perceived and metabolized, before it can be applied.

But divine power is in Application; whether it is mental application, verbal application, or physical application.  Mat 4.

The characteristics of the new spiritual species:

a.  The new spiritual species is created by the baptism of the Spirit at salvation.

This positional sanctification gives us the equal privilege of predestination. (in our position with God, we are sanctified or holy in God’s eyes by the work of Christ on the cross, forever.)  1CO 1:2,30,6:19, ROM 15:16, EPH 2:18-22.

b.  The new spiritual species is forever protected from liability at the last judgment; you cannot lose your salvation, ROM 8:1, 1PE 1:5, ROM 8:28-39, ROM 6:23,cf. 11:6.

c.  The new spiritual species possesses eternal life, 1JO 5:11‑12, JOH 3:16,36

If you received eternal life at the moment of faith in Christ, then how can you lose your salvation?  If you could lose your salvation, then eternal life isn’t eternal!

d.  The new spiritual species possesses a double divine righteousness:  The imputed perfect righteousness of God the Father, ROM 3:22, and the perfect righteousness we share with Jesus Christ through positional sanctification, 1CO 1:30, 2CO 5:21

e.  The new spiritual species has an inheritance protected by the omnipotence of God.

1 Peter 1:3-5

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

f.  Being a new spiritual species is not progressive.  It is a position or status given to us at the moment of faith in Christ.

It cannot be improved in time or in eternity.

It is a gift of God and originates from His sovereignty; therefore, we cannot improve it by anything we do.  ROM 3:24; ROM 6:23.

g.  Being a new spiritual species is not an emotion or an experience.

It is not an empirical function. (not something realized through experience)

Emotion is a normal part of life, a normal soul function, but it is a response to proper thinking from the Word of God, it is not the way to live the spiritual life.

You can be filled with the Holy Spirit and be emotional about something, but emotion is not a sign of spirituality; it is not a function of the filling of the Holy Spirit.

For example, the most spiritual moment in human history was the Lord’s attitude on the Cross.  He thought Bible doctrine, the Father’s plan, and it sustained Him.  But He did not “feel good” on the cross!

So again, the new spiritual species is not an emotion or an experience, it is something done for us by God.  He made us into a new creature.

h.  Being a new spiritual species is not related to any form of human works or human merit. GAL 2:16, EPH 2:9

i.  The new spiritual species of the Church-age is both justified and sanctified.

We are justified as new spiritual species, ROM 3:24

(Old Testament believers were also justified upon receiving the imputation of God's perfect righteousness.)

ROM 3:21-28

But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the  righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 25 whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; 26 for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

27 Where then is boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith. 28 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law.

We are sanctified (set apart for God) as new spiritual species, 1CO 1:2, 30; HEB 10:10, 14.

And no Old Testament believer was ever entered into union with Christ.

1 Cor 1:2

To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, saints by calling, with all who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours:

1 Cor 1:30-31

But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, 31 so that, just as it is written, "LET HIM WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD."

HEB 10:10

By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

HEB 10:14

For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.

 j.  The new spiritual species is unique to the Church-age.  It has never existed in any previous dispensation (time period), nor will it exist in any future dispensation.

Let's look at some biblical documentation for the new creature or the new spiritual species.

Remember that circumcision in the ritual plan of God of the Old Testament was the sign of the new racial species of Israel.

But Paul reveals how the ritual plan of God is out and the Pre-designed Plan Of God is in,

in GAL 6:15  "For neither is circumcision anything [Jewish race], nor uncircumcision [Gentile race]; but a new spiritual species."

The new racial species has been replaced in the church age by the new spiritual species.

2CO 5:17  "Therefore, if anyone [Church-age believer] is in Christ Jesus [and they are], he is a new [spiritual] species.  The old things [position in Adam, spiritual death] have lost their power; behold, new things have come [the invisible assets plus the PPOG]."

The Greek words "kaine ktisis" does not mean that you have been renovated, but it means you have been created a brand new creature.

Kaine means something entirely new in nature and in essence.

Ktisis means to create something out of nothing or to produce something not previously existing!

Now, all of this means that there is a challenge for the new spiritual species.

The Church-age is the greatest opportunity afforded to individual believers in all of human history.

We have more going for us than even Adam had in the perfect environment of the Garden, or any group of people in history!

And we should never stoop to claiming any superiority based on any human standards by which members of the human race are distinguished.

We now have the privilege of becoming a person with a purpose, under the greatest plan from God.

And, our impact is not only extensive and invisible in human history, but it also extends into the angelic conflict with the elect and fallen angels.

Angels, both elect and fallen, are watching our every move!

1 Peter 1:12

It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven — things into which angels long to look.

EPH 3:10

so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places.

Luke 15:10

"In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

We have the opportunity to glorify God on this “stage” called the earth.

1 Cor 4:9

For, I think, God has exhibited us apostles last of all, as men condemned to death; because we have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men.

“spectacle” = theatron ; a place for public show ("theatre"),

As a new spiritual species, you have a greater spiritual impact than Israel had in the Old Testament.

Never has such an opportunity been given by God to believers!

So, after four racial species (descendants of Shem, Ham, Japheth, and Abraham), there now exists something far greater, a new spiritual species.

It eliminates every racial, national, social, cultural, economic, or geographical distinction, all handicap distinctions, such as variation in I.Q., attractiveness, ability, talent, or any other factor.

So you must entirely change your human viewpoint and no longer regard yourself or any other believers as inferior or superior under any of these human categories.

You are no better than anyone else, and no worse than anyone else.

You must regard yourself as a member of the royal family of God, with your very own invisible assets, plus an absolutely perfect and wonderful plan guaranteed to keep you on top of life as long as you live, guaranteed to give you a happiness you never dreamed existed, guaranteed to provide for you blessings beyond description.

And if you do not have all this right now, it is because you are either negative toward Bible doctrine or ignorant of Bible doctrine or too preoccupied with the distractions of life.

Your ideas and dreams of happiness or prosperity are nothing compared to what God provides, which is beyond what you can think or imagine!

You live in the age of the greatest potential dynamics to ever exist in human history.

So, as a new creature or new spiritual species you have the ability to have the strength and power to live the Christian life.

Remember that if we are commanded to do something in the word of God, then we can expect to receive from God the power and ability to do so.

The Christian way of life is a supernatural way of life and demands a supernatural means of execution.

We have divine power available to each one of us:  the filling of the Spirit and the power of the Word of God.  EPH 5:18, HEB 4:12.

But sometimes we let our personal failures hold us back from using divine power…

The believer is bound in the slavery of guilt until, in spite of his sins, He rests in the truth concerning those sins.

Again, let’s repeat the answer to this question: what is the specific truth concerning our sins?

Again, the Lord has not covered some of your sin, but all of your sin.

In Ezek 16:63 the Lord said to people who were involved with the grossest sins you could imagine: "I will forgive you for ALL that you have done"

In ROM 4:7 Paul quoted even quoted David in Psa 32 when he said Blessed are those whose lawless deeds have been forgiven and whose sins have been covered.

ROM 4:8 Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will not take into account.

In ROM 11:27 He will take away our sins...

And I again ask you, have you become so familiar with these verses and this principle of doctrine that it no longer has an effect on your life!?

Do you forget these facts about our sins, and therefore forget your Position in Christ?

1JO 2:12 says that Your sins are forgiven for his names sake.

Now that is the truth concerning our sins!

In our condition we are totally unacceptable for the Father's presence and fellowship, but Position is what counts with God!

Your Position in Grace; is it real to you?  Therein lies the power.

COL 2:15, "When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.

The church age believer is involved in spiritual warfare with the kingdom of darkness (EPH 6:12-16; Phil. 1:27-30). He is described as a "soldier" in Scripture (1 Cor. 9:7; Phil. 2:25; 2 Tim 2:3-4).

The church age is the intensive stage of the angelic conflict (the invisible war).

God has provided the believer the means to fight in this intensive stage of the angelic conflict.

Satan and the kingdom of darkness would easily destroy the believer if the believer were left to his own devices using his own human power.

God has provided the believer the power to overcome his spiritual adversary, Satan and the kingdom of darkness through obedience to the Father’s will, which is revealed by the Holy Spirit through the communication of the Word of God (1 John 4:4).

The kingdom of darkness will employ fear and intimidation tactics to get the believer to go AWOL (Absent without Official Leave) from the plan of God (Phil. 1:28; HEB 2:15; 1 Pet. 5:1-9).

Fear is a contradiction to the believer’s spiritual life, which is a lifestyle of power, love and discipline (2 Tim. 1:7).

Occupation with Christ is the greatest weapon that a church age believer can employ when entering into offensive action (COL 3:1-4; HEB 12:2-3).

The believer who is occupied with Christ is applying by faith his union with Christ, which is revealed by the Holy Spirit in the pages of Scripture.

The kingdom of darkness will also attack the truth about grace; and that God already has done the work for mankind.

The intimidation tactics launched by the kingdom of darkness through unbelievers, and reversionistic believers, are rendered inoperative when the believer goes on the offensive.

The believer goes on the offensive by utilizing the Word of God and applying by faith his union with Christ, for defensive purposes.

In the same way that light overcomes darkness in the natural realm, the divine omnipotence of the Spirit and the Word overcomes Satan and his invisible army.

The believer who is obedient to the Father’s will, as the humanity of Christ was, he will achieve tactical victory over Satan and the kingdom of darkness in the angelic conflict.

In other words, we’ve already won the war through Jesus Christ, now God gives us a chance to win a battle for Him.

But win or lose our battle, we have won the war through our union with Christ!

That can never change.

The believer who applies by faith his union with Christ will experience victory in spiritual combat.

The believer is to fight "from" victory and not "for" victory since Christ has already gained the victory.

The soldier of Christ Jesus who achieves the objective of executing the plan of God appears as a luminary or a light in the cosmic system of Satan, exposing his deceitful schemes and defeating him in his own territory (Phil. 2:15).

The battle is real, but the war has already been decided.

COL 2:15, "When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.

And we have already been placed in union with Christ, by the grace of God.

EPH 2:1-10

And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, 2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. 3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ ( by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is  the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

Grace means something freely given, undeserved by the recipient.

A favor freely done, without claim or expectation of payment in return.

Grace demands that every form of human merit shall be set aside completely, so that pure grace may be exercised.

Grace is not only for the salvation of man, but also God's policy for the believer after salvation!

In other words, God’s policy doesn't change after salvation.

The apostle paul said in COL you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in Him...

Grace is God's means of expressing to mankind his fantastic love for all.

But how was this possible?

Remember the entire human race has been placed under the divine judicial sentence of sin.

It is obviously true that all men are sinners, both by nature and practice;

But the divine decree goes far beyond man’s state of sinfulness!

God has pronounced an equal and absolute sentence of judgment against all, both Jew and Gentile.

This is part of His genius plan to offer salvation as a free gift to the entire human race.

All men have already been condemned in JOH 3:18,

and they are children of disobedience in EPH 2:2.

Not on the grounds of their own sinfulness, but on the grounds of their federal headship in fallen Adam.

God has shut up "all" in disobedience, or under unbelief.

ROM 11:32

For God has shut up all in disobedience (why?)

so that He may show mercy to all.

They are under sin, ROM 3:9, they are all guilty, ROM 3:19.

ROM 3:9-10

What then? Are we better than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin; 10 as it is written,

ROM 3:19-20

Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God; 20 because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin.

GAL 3:22

But the Scripture has shut up everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

The Lord knew what had to be done. He knew none of us could save or preserve ourselves, even if He created us without sin.

Because of our sinful status in Adam, we have been placed in a position higher than we otherwise could have been.

If you hadn’t been born in sin, you wouldn’t have that position in Christ!

Have you ever thought about thanking God that you were born a sinner???

This enabled God to reach down in grace, and promote you to a higher position.

All human merit has been disposed of absolutely and forever!!!

No one can raise their hand and say they are worthy.

And no divine obligation exists toward any individual.

God is not obliged to pay a wage for the human merit of some and not to others.

No wages are in order any longer.

Because the work of no man is satisfactory.

No one’s work is acceptable to perfect God.

That’s why it is God’s genius to have us all inherit Adam’s original sin.

Now that we are born in sin, the Lord must provide a solution for us, in His perfect Justice.

Another definition of grace…

Grace is neither treating a person "as" he deserves, nor treating a person "better" than he deserves.  It is treating someone graciously without the slightest reference to what he deserves!

He does not deserve a thing; and that makes him qualified to receive 100% pure grace.

If he is earning wages by working, there is no need for grace.

But if one has no way to work for himself, no way to pay his debts, he qualifies for a gift of 100% pure grace.

Which one do you want?  100% pure grace from God or wages from your human effort?

And we must remember,…

An act is in no way gracious if under any circumstances a debt is incurred.

 ROM 4:4-8 says…

Now to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due.

5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness, 6 just as David also speaks of the blessing on the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:

Grace must always remain unadulterated in its generosity and benefit.

This means that grace must always be based on purity!

Pure God...and nothing whatsoever to do with man!

ROM 11:6 says…

But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.

Grace is an opportunity for failure to succeed, and Grace is a function of love demonstrated toward failure.

The best example of this?

WHILE WE WERE SINNERS Christ died for us!

God solved the sin problem once and for all, through the Substitute, the Savior Jesus Christ.

We had to be in a position of failure to have grace demonstrated to us.

And now a whole new side of God’s greatness is revealed to the angels.

It is truly amazing how God turns a curse into a blessing, and He turned the rebellion of mankind into an opportunity to reveal His grace and mercy.

Let me ask you this…

Would you rather be born without sin and need to remain perfectly sinless your whole life to go to heaven?

Or would you rather be born a sinner and therefore be a candidate for the free gift of salvation, not dependent upon your successes or failures whatsoever?

Through the unlimited atonement, 1Tim 4:10, grace is free to save in every case, and only grace can save in any case. (such as the thief on the cross)

Divine grace is never decreased or increased... however the experience of that grace depends on the believer's fellowship with God!

It’s how cognizant or aware of divine grace we are!

It’s depends on if we truly recognize our position of royalty that we possess, which was totally 100% given to us as a grace gift.

Our spiritual capacity is established through the priesthood, our personal relationship with the Lord.

We can walk boldly into the throne room of God because our sin is no longer an issue.

HEB 4:16

Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

How often do we forget that the only reason we stand is because of the grace of God?

How often do we forget to treat people in view of the cross?

Their sins are totally forgiven too!  Just as you like that yours are.

Here’s another challenging question…

Do you really believe that everything you have is because of nothing you did?

If not, then you don’t fully understand God’s grace.

And if you do believe it, you are then truly free.

When you let go and are free, you will have a peace that goes beyond your imagination.

Nothing ultimately depends on you.

Everything depends on what God has done for you.

You are holding onto nothing except The Lord Jesus Christ as the Source.

This power system comes from being rightly related to the Vine, and your priesthood in the privacy of your soul between you and God.

You must understand and apply what God has done for YOU!

You must apply by faith the fact that you are right now in Union with Christ; and you’re position in unchangeable before Him, all because of the grace gift of God.

You have received an inheritance, been adopted as a son into a royal family; and now with your priesthood you must boldly approach the throne of grace and thank Him for it!!!

This is what leads to our spiritual capacity, our ability to LIVE IN OUR POSITION.

It is when we LIVE IN OUR POSITION that our condition changes.

Not our ‘condition’ of sin and weakness; our spiritual condition of how we see ourselves.

Not our physical condition and circumstances seen in our failures.

Our spiritual reality changes, seeing ourselves in our heavenly position NOW.

You recognize the truth, that you are totally clean in God’s eyes, even though you are still a sinner.

You recognize the truth that you are already seated with Him on His throne.

You are never going to be more holy that you are right now!

Spiritual advance is a change of the cognizance of your reality.

Spiritual capacity comes from being aware of your status with God, by His grace alone.

The winner believer truly believes his eternal Position in Christ.

God’s solution to our problem solved a lot of other things.

And it goes back to our awareness of it, and not being casual of our awareness of it.

You must stay aware of the power of the Position you have in Christ.

This is why we can go boldly before the throne of grace!

Our positional situation becomes our experiential situation as we become aware of who we are and then live in it!

That’s a continuous process, but the closer we get to this reality, the more spiritual we become and the more capacity we gain to appreciate God.

We have a greater thanksgiving toward God, and your motivation becomes one of love for God!!!

The world’s system motivators are guilt, fear, etc.. because it’s a system of relative righteousness and merit.

But in the system of pure grace God does it all!

That’s why all gifts are irrevocable, because you did nothing to receive it to begin with.  ROM 11:29!

ROM 11:29

for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

Your relationship with God is non-meritorious!

And when you really believe this, you learn to appreciate the grace of God, you live in awe of God, and then you develop thanksgiving, and from that you have love.

A powerful position to be in.

The princes of England do normal things; they join the military, get jobs, etc..

But do they have to do any of it?  NO!

Because you are a son in God’s royal family, technically you don’t have to do any of it.

But God says “choose life”

But you have infinite freedom to live your life before God.

And realizing that freedom will eliminate the slavery of fear.

Your slavery to fear and guilt will be smashed by love.

You will live in total freedom because of your AWARENESS of what the Word of God says about your “Position”.

You will KNOW the truth and the truth will set you free!  JOH 8:32
